January is Crime Stoppers Awareness Month
January is the month designated as “Crime Stoppers Month” – the month each program takes to publicly highlight their successes and thank their sponsors and supporters. It’s an opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous support of the community, Chatham-Kent Police and media in helping Crime Stoppers achieve the success that we have.
Does Crime Stoppers work? Quite simply, YES! Since the inception of Chatham-Kent Crime Stoppers in 1987 we are responsible for taking over $115 million worth of illegal drugs off the streets & stolen property and seizing 340 illegal weapons. We have received over 30,000 tips from the public resulting in over 7600 arrests.
Tip submitting methods have come a long way. Not only can you call in a tip by phoning our call center at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), but you can submit a tip through our website here.
Remember, community safety is a shared responsibility.
